【駒沢】Article “Trees and kids”
This month, the children have been working on a project called “Trees and Kids”.
The children spent their time outdoors. They observed and collected tree branches from the park.
They had a close observation with the tree branches they got and had familiarization about the parts of the tree and think of different perceptions of the tree and painted all over it.
On the other day, a different perception of the tree was made by each of the children.
They created a rainbow tree by sticking cut and torn colored paper.
After making the rainbow tree, they had great teamwork in placing the tree on a large pot.
And they were intoduced to shadow with the use of flashlight and the rainbow tree they made. When it was showed to them, they thought of different things. One child said it looks like a snake, the others sang happy birthday song because it looks like a birthday cake for them. The other child said it looks like a dinosaur.
They have different perceptions of the shadow of the tree. Their imaginations really worked during this activity. It shows that every child have different perceptions and levels of thinking.
Time outdoors can boost child’s confidence, happiness and focus, all by moving and activating their senses.
It also shows that spending time with nature can also give a lifelong appreciation with the environment.

記事「木と子どもたち」
今月、子どもたちは「木と子どもたち」というプロジェクトに取り組みました。子どもたちは屋外で過ごし、公園から木の枝を観察し、集めました。
彼らは持ち帰った木の枝を詳しく観察し、木の各部位を覚えながら、木に対するさまざまな見方を考え、枝に絵を描きました。
別の日には、子どもたちそれぞれが木に対する新しい見方を形にしました。彼らは切ったりちぎったりした色紙を貼り付けて、虹の木を作りました。
虹の木を作った後、子どもたちは協力して大きな鉢に木を配置しました。
その後、懐中電灯を使って虹の木の影を見せられると、子どもたちはさまざまなものを連想しました。
ある子どもは「ヘビに見える」と言い、他の子どもたちは「バースデーケーキみたい」と言って誕生日の歌を歌いました。
また別の子どもは「恐竜に見える」と言いました。
子どもたちは木の影に対してそれぞれ異なる見方を持ち、その活動中に彼らの想像力が大いに発揮されました。
この活動を通じて、子どもたち一人ひとりが異なる見方や思考レベルを持っていることが分かります。屋外での時間は、子どもたちの自信、幸福感、集中力を高め、感覚を活性化することで、自然と触れ合う時間が環境への生涯にわたる感謝の気持ちを育むことも示しています。
